Charter Oak Bank recognizes that its customers have an expectation
of privacy in their dealings with us. The following privacy guidelines
are established and maintained by Charter Oak Bank:
Use, Collection, and Retention of Customer Information
Charter Oak Bank shall collect, retain, and use information about
individual customers only where it reasonably believes it would
be useful (and allowed by law) to administering its business and
to provide products, services and other opportunities to our customers.
Employee Access and Use of Customer Information
Each Charter Oak Bank employee is personally responsible for maintaining
the confidentiality of customer data. Each Bank employee is required
to sign an acknowledgment that they have read and understand their
responsibilities that are stated in the Charter Oak Bank Personnel
Policy. The Bank's Policy states, "Confidential information
acquired through the course of employment about the Bank and its
customers and suppliers is to be used solely for banking purposes
and not as a basis for furthering a private interest or as a means
of making a profit. A staff member may not disclose confidential
information of one customer to another customer or to any other
outside party. Disclosure to other Bank employees should be kept
to a minimum on a need-to-know basis."
Restrictions of the Disclosure of Account Information
Charter Oak Bank will not reveal private financial
information ("non-public personal information")
about customer accounts or other personally identifiable data to
unaffiliated third parties, unless: (1) the information is provided
to help complete a customer initiated transaction, (2) the customer
requests it, (3) the disclosure is required by/or allowed by law
(i.e., investigation of fraudulent activity), or (4) the customer
has been informed about the possibility of such disclosures through
a prior communication and is given the opportunity to decline (i.e.,
"opt out").
Maintaining Customer Privacy in Business Relationships with
Third Parties
From time to time, Charter Oak Bank contracts with outside vendors
and other business partners to perform specific services for the
Bank. When doing so, Charter Oak Bank selects business partners
and vendors that adhere to similar privacy standards as those of
the Bank. We expect that our business partners and vendors will
honor and safeguard any information regarding a Charter Oak Bank
customer.
