Thank you to all that participated in our survey. We appreciate the responses you have provided. We have responded to some of your comments below:

 

What other products or services would you like to see Charter Oak Bank offer?               

 

Response:  Open after 4 p.m. on Fridays

 

The Bank expanded its hours in May to Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..

And our clock is always in the customer’s favor meaning we are available before 9:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m.

               

Response: International wires from my computer

 

The Bank is committed to providing products and services with the highest security environment possible. Currently we do not feel accepting International Wires through Internet Banking is a secured means. This may be available at a later time, when stronger security is available. Our staff would be happy to assist you with your International Wire needs by visiting one of our branches. 

                               

Response: Offer financial and investment advice

 

Currently, our Charter Oak Bank eNews provides an article from our President and CEO, Brian Kelly, which includes information on the local economy, our services and products.  The Bank also shares information on the local economy through mini-seminars, articles, our blog, Facebook, and will in the near future with videos. Our Relationship Managers work with each customer offering financial advice relevant to their business or personal situation. 

               

Response: IRA’s (Individual Retirement Accounts)

 

The Bank is researching the possibility of offering IRA’s in the future.

 

Response: Local home mortgages

 

The Bank does not currently offer home mortgages, since lower interest rates can be obtained at banks specializing in home mortgages to which the Bank gives referrals.  However, the Bank does offer Home Equity Credit Lines (HELOC).  If you are interested in obtaining a HELOC, please visit one of our branches.       

               

Response: Credit Card Service

 

Charter Oak Bank does provide a credit card service entitled Merchant Services, for businesses that would like to accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express for their clients. The Bank also offers credit cards for individuals and businesses.  Please visit one of our branches to complete an application. 

               

Other Comments:

 

Response: Eliminate fees on Overdraft Protection

 

Processing of overdrafts is costly to the Bank. We review all our fees periodically to ensure we are competitive with banks in our local market. In reviewing our fees, they are typically lower then banks in our local market.  

               

 Response: Raise the savings deposit rates

 

The Bank reviews our deposit rates to ensure we are competitive in the local market while focusing the  financial position of the bank to ensure we continue to be a sound bank in our community for years to come.

 

Our Green Fund Checking Account, which combines a checking and money market account, pays high rates.  To learn more about our Green Fund Checking Account, please visit our website or one of our branches.  

 

Response: Travelers Checks             

 

The Bank has seen a decrease in Travelers Checks interest over the years, as re-loadable Visa Debit Cards are becoming the new more secure device used. The Bank offers these Visa Debit Cards that can be used worldwide anywhere VISA is accepted.

               

Response: The ATM on Railroad should be kept clean.             

 

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.  This has been addressed and will be cleaned daily.                

You can also use other ATMs in the area, since withdrawals with a Charter Oak ATM/Visa Debit cards are free of charges worldwide.

 

Response: Reduce fees for bringing in a cash deposit for a business.

 

The Bank offers a Business Analyzed Checking Account for businesses with high cash deposits. These fees can be offset by an earnings credit that is based on the balance in your account.

               

Response: I have received doubled emails.
