    Joel Tranmer
    Chair of the Board

    Joel Tranmer is a retired business executive. He founded United Fibers in 1977, serving as the company's President and CEO. United Fibers manufactured home insulation products made from recycled paper. In 1994, United Fibers merged with two other companies to become the public company known as GreenStone Industries, and Mr. Tranmer served as the Company's President and Chief Operating Officer and as a member of the Company's Board of Directors. In 1997, the company was purchased by Louisiana Pacific. Mr. Tranmer retired in December 1998 as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the wholly owned subsidiary of Louisiana Pacific. He is now developing real estate in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

    Brian Kelly
    President, CEO and Director

    In 2004, Brian Kelly led a group of investors from the Napa Valley in forming Charter Oak Bank. Over seventeen million dollars was raised to start the bank, with the objective of becoming The Pre-eminent Community Bank here in the Napa Valley. Brian has over 25 years of banking experience here in the Napa Valley, including being CEO of Napa National Bank, and previous to that, leading Bank of America’s Wine Industry group. He started as a teller nearly 40 years ago, and upon receipt of his MBA from UC Berkeley, he gained experience in lending and investments.
    Active in the community, Brian sits on the boards of Aldea, Inc, the Conference & Visitors Bureau, and the Vintners Community Health Center.  He is active in Rotary and the Chamber of Commerce, and is a Commissioner on the Local Agency Formation Commission.

    William Bacigalupi
    Director

    William Bacigalupi, formed and operated Napa Garbage Service and Napa Valley Disposal Service. Mr. Bacigalupi sold both companies to Waste Management, Inc. in 1998. Mr. Bacigalupi remained with Waste Management from 1998 until he retired in October 2003. Since then, Mr. Bacigalupi has pursued business interests with the Bacigalupi Estate Vineyard and Recovery Products and Services, Napa Recycling & Waste Services, (City of Napa), Napa County Recycling & Waste Services (County of Napa), Northern Recycling & Waste Service, (City of Paradise), Silverado Group, Silverado Funding, (Oregon). Mr. Bacigalupi is currently a director of Luna Vineyards and Monticello Vineyards Winery.

    Annie Bennett

    Annie
    Bennett retired as the General Manager of Fortune magazine in 1987 and moved from New York City to Napa Valley. Prior to her work at Fortune, she held other senior management positions at the former Time, Inc. She began her career as an Associate in Corporate Finance at Goldman, Sachs and then served as a consultant with McKinsey & Co. Ms. Bennett is a former board member of Ram Energy of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  She serves on the board of the Napa Valley Community Foundation. 

    John Dermody
    Director

    John Dermody is a founding member of Napa Valley Family Medical Group, a former President of Napa Valley Physicians, and Queen of the Valley Medial Center's past Chief of Staff . He has been a long term participant on QVMC's Ethics, Quality, and Strategic Planning Committees.  He graduated with honors from Cornell University and received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.  Dr. Dermody moved to Napa in 1987 with his wife Piera and two boys. He now serves as a trustee of the Napa Valley Opera House and a member of Legatus International.

    Jeffrey Jaeger

    Jeffrey Jaeger is the Managing Member of Jaeger Vineyards, LLC. The Jaeger Family is in the grape growing business and has vineyard holdings exclusively in the Napa Valley and sell grapes to a number of wineries in the Napa Valley and in Sonoma County. Mr. Jaeger is involved in a number of businesses ancillary to the wine and spirits industries. He is a member of Barrel Associates International, a Nevada LLC and barrel sales company, and is also a member of Loglink, LLC a company which buys and sells American white oak logs for manufacturing staves and heading material for sale to cooperages worldwide, for eventual use in the manufacturing of wine and spirits barrels. Jeffrey and Kristen reside in Napa.

    Richard Kahler
    Director

    Richard Kahler is a retired commercial banker with over 40 years of commercial banking experience, including nearly 25 years as a bank Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Kahler was the founding President, Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the Board for Bay Bank of Commerce in San Leandro, California. Bay Bank of Commerce grew to nearly $150 million in assets before it was sold to Greater Bay Bancorp in 1999.   He also serves as Chairman of the Board of Community Bank of the Bay in Oakland. 

    Thomas Nelson
    Director

    Mr. Nelson founded Control Manufacturing, a control systems manufacturer in 1978. Under his leadership, Control Manufacturing grew into one of the largest system integration companies in the west. Control Manufacturing was one of the first integration companies to incorporate PC driven automation in process control. The company, renamed FluidIQs, was acquired in 2003. Mr. Nelson’s community involvement includes Rotary (president 2002-2003), Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Napa Valley (Director) and the Napa Airport Advisory Commission (vice chair).  Mr. Nelson graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Electrical Engineering. 

    Joseph Peatman
    Director

    Joseph Peatman is a retired land use attorney of Dickenson, Peatman and Fogarty, which he founded in 1964. Over the years he has been on the School Board, Board of Supervisors, Grand Jury, and Queen of the Valley Hospital Board. Currently, Joe is the President of the Gasser Foundation, the largest philanthropic foundation in Napa County.
